This Red Oak vessel was turned wet and dried rapidly. I was experimenting with leaving the wood a bit thicker than I normally wood to see what would happen. I actually wanted some cracks to form. To use them in the final vision for the piece. Now as with most things I do the black acrylic was an extreme after thought. It was spur of the moment decision. This piece has some Rosewood sutures as well. I don't normally make these kind of repairs but this piece really was asking for it. I really like the way how they came out. I love how these things happen!!!
