This piece is turned and carved from Spalted Maple. So this is enhanced spalted Maple…let me explain. I enhance the zone lines that are there but bring them out more profoundly with different sized India ink pens. It really shows the natural color separation in the wood. Taking pieces of extraordinary wood and making these organically inspired forms is such a joy. Starting a new series of pieces is always a wonderful thing. I’m excited about this shape. It’s very organic and nurturing.
